Think hi-res audio has to stay planted indoors? Think again. With these portable DACs, you can plug into your mobile device and enjoy audio quality as good as your headphones permit. Onkyo's DAC-HA200 and new DAC-HA300 digital-to-analog converter/amplifier combos are bite-sized and they sound awesome.

Once again Magnepan shows us that you don't have to be a one-percenter to afford exotic flat panel loudspeakers.

4K TV? Old news. Japanese broadcaster NHK already has plans underway to start 8K broadcasts sometime in 2016. That date isn’t far off at all, so there are presumably plans in the works to make TVs that can actually receive those broadcasts.

You could crank up the sound system in your car. You could open your windows and use your home theater. I guess you could even turn on your phone and have everyone keep really quiet. But the best way to enjoy tunes out on the patio is to buy an outdoor speaker. Outdoor speakers are typically portable, cordless, and water resistant, provide a bit of fidelity even if it's not always high. AR has some nice new ones for your outdoor listening pleasure

Micromega is not a company associated with speakers, so we were astounded when we heard how good the $349/pair MySpeaker sounded.

Can your desktop speaker do this? Show time, news, deadlines, temperature or any other data you're interested in? Stream music services like Spotify, Pandora and iTunes from your phone or tablet? Smart Atom's LaMetric can. In addition, this speaker is hackable. In all my years as an audio reviewer, I have never before written the words, "this speaker is hackable."

While its pixel-splitting Beyond 4K sets were the ones that grabbed the most attention at Sharp’s CES press conference, there are other 4K TV highlights to be seen in a visit to the company’s CES booth.

Like every other major TV maker at CES, Sony is demo’ing high dynamic range content. And like every other HDR demo I’ve seen at CES, Sony’s makes conventional, non-HDR displays look grossly inadequate in comparison.

Sometime this spring, Oppo plans to release its first ever closed-backed planar magnetic headphones. Meant for audiophiles on the go, the headphones are much more the size of traditional closed-backed over-ear headphones.
